Evaporator coils for showcase cases are a kind of special refrigeration setup. They handle cooling in a way that fits tight spaces and keeps temperatures just right for showing off products like food or drinks.
These things have to balance a few tricky parts. Like, keeping the temperature super steady, maybe within one or two degrees Fahrenheit, and also managing humidity so products do not dry out or spoil. Then there is the display side, where you do not want frost or coils blocking the view of whats inside. It seems important too to avoid cold air spilling out into the store, which could make shoppers uncomfortable. Defrosting has to happen quickly and often, but without letting the temp jump up too much. And all this in a really compact design because the cases are not huge.
For medium temperature cases, those are for things like dairy or beverages, keeping it around 35 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The coils there are usually bare tube or plate types. Airflow works by gravity, so cold air just sinks down naturally from the coil at the back or up top hidden away. It creates like a curtain of cool air over the products. Defrost is often just turning off the compressor, letting the fan or air melt the frost. Some fancier ones use electric heat or hot gas though.
