Daikin makes some really good inverter systems, like the FIT and VRV ones, thats what they are known for mostly. But the coils in those, they can still fail in ways that happen to a lot of brands, even if there are some special things about Daikins.
One big issue is corrosion, even though they have this Corrosion Block Fin coating, which is like their Blue fin thing, supposed to protect against that. It works pretty well I think, but in places near the coast with salt or industrial spots with acids, it might not hold up completely. You can get these tiny pinholes in the copper tubing right behind the fins.
Their inverter tech is super precise, stuff like the FIT or Aurora series, so if the coil is not matching right or starts acting up, it messes with the whole system. You get communication errors, the capacity drops, and efficiency just isnt there anymore. That part seems tricky to fix without everything going off.
Then theres formicary corrosion, which I guess comes from vapors in the house, like chemicals from cleaners or whatever, and it makes these ant nest like leaks in the copper, same as other brands.
Installation mistakes can be a problem too, because Daikins refrigerant lines are complicated, and they have their own ways to service them. If someone doesnt do it right, the coil fails way sooner than it should.
