Industrial cooling coils are basically these heat exchangers that move heat from one thing to another on a big scale in factories or plants. They handle stuff like air or water or some process fluid, transferring energy to water or refrigerant or steam usually. The main jobs they do involve cooling processes, getting rid of humidity, or recovering heat, all in industrial settings. It seems like they are pretty essential for keeping operations running smoothly.

When it comes to classifying them, the way they are built is one way to look at it. Bare tube coils are just simple tubes with no fins attached, and they work well for cooling liquids or in spots where theres a lot of buildup that makes cleaning tough, so fins would just get in the way. Then there are finned tube coils, which I think are the ones you see most often. The tubes get expanded into plates or wound with spirals to boost the surface area, especially for heat transfer on the air side. Materials for fins could be galvanized steel or aluminum or stainless steel, depending on what the environment needs.

Embossed fin coils have this patterned surface on the fins that stirs up the airflow a bit, which helps make the heat transfer more efficient. That part gets a bit technical, but it sounds like it improves things without too much extra complexity.
